I am a 10th pass student and wish to opt for petroleum engg.So is it compulsory to give the IIT-JEE entrance test or can i get the admission according to my 12th board results?

No it's not necessary that you give IIT-JEE for petroleum engineering there are many other institute which conduct their own entrance exam like institute in UP conduct UPSEE but you or your parents should be domicile of UP but in case of Uttarakhand it conduct it's own netrance exam as well as give admission on the basis of AIEEE rank ,same is the case for most of the institute so give AIEEE at least and respective state entrance exam
